Ron Cichowicz

Ron Cichowicz has been principal of Ron Cichowicz & Associates in Pittsburgh since 2009 where he delivers freelance writing, editing, fundraising and public relations consulting services focused on helping small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations.

In addition to offering workshops and presentations on communications, public relations, fundraising, leadership & motivation and the benefits of humor, Ron is an award-winning writer and a communications professional.

During his career, he has worked in executive-level positions for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Gateway Rehabilitation Center, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh. Organizations for whom he has provided communications, public relations and fundraising support include Bishop Canevin High School; Monongahela Valley Hospital; Robert Morris University; the Family Medicine Education Consortium; Cross Roads Foundation of Staten Island, NY; the University of Pittsburgh and Point Park and La Roche Universities.

An award-winning writer, Ron’s work has appeared in a variety of local and national publications. His work has garnered local and national honors, including Keystone Press, Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education, IABC Golden Triangle, PRSA Pittsburgh Renaissance and Hermes Creative National Awards.

David H. Dix

For the last 13 years, David has worked in the nonprofit development field. He began his professional career at BNY Mellon where he assisted individuals and addressed their philanthropic needs. He reached the level of Vice President before he left to pursue a career in the nonprofit field. His nonprofit work began as a consultant working directly with over 40 area non-profit organizations to communicate the need and power of planned gifts to their donors, prospects, staff and board members. He then worked with a local hospital foundation as Assistant Executive Director and Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving. While with the hospital foundation, David served as a key member of the management team and he was responsible for the increase in overall annual giving including employee giving and individual giving. David was also directly responsible for a new planned giving program at the foundation including a charitable gift annuity process. David then was asked to join East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) where he was the Capital Campaign Director and Director of Development. At EECM, David successfully led a team on an ambitious and strategic Capital Campaign to raise $15.7 million. In addition, he was also responsible for managing a team to cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations.

David is a graduate of Hobart College in Geneva, NY with a B. A. in Economics. He also attended the National Trust School and the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. David is a Past President of the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council where he also served on the Resource and Advisory Committees. David has successfully worked with various organizations on long-range strategic planning, board management and staff development.

James R. Sismour

Jim has worked for over 24 years in development with experience in higher education (University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and St. Vincent College; major outright and deferred gift fundraising and capital campaigns), grateful patient fundraising (Pittsburgh Medical and Health Sciences Foundation and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation; major gifts) and religious organizations (Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Foundation; capital campaigns, planned giving). He is currently a Charitable Relationship Manager for Planned Giving at the University of Pittsburgh.

A graduate of Gannon University in Erie, PA, B.A. in Communication Arts, he also attended Carnegie Mellon University. Jim is a Past President of the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council, and a current board member, chairing the Leave a Legacy committee of the council.
